Adam Sipe
Adam Sipe’s paintings start out wrong. They get going when there is a problem to solve. If there is an image, it’s obfuscated. If there is no image, one is coaxed out. Referential points are multiplied and divided until shoes are landscapes and plants are faces. Strike that, reverse it.
Adam Sipe was born in Greensburg. PA. He studied painting at Penn State University, Temple Rome, and the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts, Bard College. He has exhibited at the Ulrich Museum of Art, Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, Miller Gallery at Carnegie Mellon, Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia and the 1926 Gallery in Chicago. Sipe lives and works in New York City.
