Laura Holmes McCarthy
Laura Holmes McCarthy’s work explores emotional connectivity through tactile, functional objects. Her practice is the product of her personal history–a long career in digital media, a familial tradition of craft, and recovery from the experience of complicated grief in early adulthood–all of which inform her desire to create physical multi-generational pathways in a material culture increasingly defined by digital artifacts.
Laura Holmes McCarthy is from Richmond, Virginia and currently lives and works in New York’s Hudson Valley. Her work consists of biomorphic ceramics, functional pottery, and handmade jewelry, and has been sold and exhibited throughout the New York region. In addition to her work in ceramics, she is an award-winning Creative Director who has spoken at DMEXCO, and had her work featured in The New York Times, AdAge, and Campaign US. She holds a Masters from Virginia Commonwealth University.
