Hydrocal, fabric, acrylic

Inspired by found imagery as varied as Greek caryatids, Roman mosaics and American quilting, Erin Lee Jones’s “sculptural monoprints,” as she calls them, are alchemy preserved. Using Hydrocal (similar to plaster) and a variety of materials including terrazzo glass, rubber, tin foil, burlap and acrylic paint, Jones’s work is like frozen energy, where the materials appear to come together and fall apart simultaneously. The work is graphic, figurative, fantastical and often playful.

Erin Lee Jones lives and works in New York. Her work has been featured in prominent galleries such as; Fahrenheit Madrid, Spain; Nathalie Karg Gallery, New York, NY; Safe Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; Regina Rex, New York, NY; and Songs for Presidents, Ridgewood, NY. She holds a BFA from the University of North Florida and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is currently the director of Lite Brite Neon Studio, a studio producing neon lighting for the arts.
