Kevin McNamee-Tweed’s poetic body of earthenware paintings, assemblages andrelief sculptures comprise an ever expansive vocabulary of images culled from arcane vernaculars, historical references and utilitarian motifs. In his diminutive glazed ceramic piece Two Spoons, we see everyday objects reinterpreted as universal metaphors for spiritual nourishment or simply a romanticized relationship between our present lives and the past.

Kevin McNamee-Tweed received a BFA from New York University in 2008 and an MA and MFA from the University of Iowa in 2019 and 2020. Selected Solo exhibitions include, Steve Turner, Los Angeles, CA; Devening Projects, Chicago, IL; Shrine Gallery, New York, NY; Rod Barton, London, UK; The Menil Collection, Houston, TX; and Little Berlin Gallery, Philadelphia, PA. He is the recipient of numerous awards and residencies including the 2018 Willhelm and Jane Bodine Fellowship, the 2017 Iowa Arts Fellowship, the 2016 Montello Foundation Fellowship, the 2017 Bay Space Artist in Residence; and awards for Best Solo Exhibition of 2012, Best Exhibition Curation 2015, and Best Work of Art in 2014 from the Austin Critics Table in Texas.
