Emily Margarit Mason
Archival pigment print
8.5 x 11 x .5 in
Emily Margarit Mason creates momentary sculptural sets for the camera using fragmented photographic prints and found materials. Collecting images and objects, she then reassembles them into new compositions in the studio. She explores moments of visual instability, utilizing form, repetition, and color to build upon the existing captured images. The images mimic a moment you can almost remember. The interventions deepen our perception of recollection, time, and image-making.
Emily Margarit Mason currently lives and works in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her work has been shown at Richard Levy Gallery, Form and Concept, Filter Photo, Current Space, and The Eleanor D Wilson Museum, among other venues. She has been published in Hyperallergic, The Coastal Post, and Southwest Contemporary. Mason earned a BFA in Photography from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland.
