In the American sculptural/spatial legacies of Andrea Zittel, Anne Truitt, Sterling Ruby, and Theaster Gates – Dixon’s hard, colorful structures, and expanded social and architectural practice, directly address the psychopolitical space of hand-built homages, and reconfigured monuments. Inside of Dixon's playfully laborious works, viewers are called upon to consider the geometric slippage between domination and celebration. In addition to her studio practice, Dixon started, builds, and runs BEVERLY'S – a large-scale social sculpture, founded as an arts and nightlife institution based in Lower Manhattan.

Leah Dixon received her BFA from The Ohio State University, her MFA from The School of Visual Arts, and was a fellowship resident at The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. She is a United States Artist Prize nominee, and was recently awarded an exceptional artist grant from the Spanish government’s Accion Cultural Española. Dixon's work has been exhibited and reviewed widely nationally and internationally. Exhibition highlights include The Austrian Cultural Forum in Berlin, The Goethe Institut NYC, Edel Assanti Gallery London, and The Nicaraguan Biennial of Contemporary Art. Dixon has recent and upcoming solo exhibitions at Guadalajara90210 Gallery (Mexico City and Guadalajara) and Bombon Projects in Barcelona.
