Carl Ostendarp is involved with pictorial abstraction in the context of painting and installation. Recent exhibitions include Die Bilder Der Brüder at Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden, Germany; Carl Ostendarp: Greatest Hits at the Heilbronn Kunstverein, Germany; Everything Falls Faster than an Anvil at Pace Gallery, London; and Carl Ostendarp at Elizabeth Dee Gallery, New York. His work is included in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art; Art Institute of Chicago; Walker Art Center; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Museum Ludwig, Germany; Museum für Moderne Kunst, Germany; Kunstmuseum St. Gallen, Switzerland; Fogg Art Museum at Harvard; and Yale University Art Gallery, among others. He taught at NYU, Tyler School of Art, Rutgers University, SVA, and The Cooper Union prior to his 21 years at Cornell University, where he is an Associate Professor. Ostendarp received his BFA from Boston University and MFA from Yale University.
