Citing mythical–medieval illumination and dream visions, rococo art, open world gaming, folklore, the local old growth forests, the impacts of climate change and the pandemic, a longing for friends and family, and drug and alcohol addiction — Matt Jones engages idea-feelings of intimacy, community, and storytelling, through a world he’s been building with very specific vocabularies of line and color in his paintings, drawings, and watercolors.
