Linda Geary is inspired by material processes of cutting, revision and repair. Her work explores the formal life of color, shape and pattern, from encounters with textiles to public-private issues of visibility, sometimes using erasure and camouflage as an organizing structure and power source.
Linda Geary's work has been shown in New York, Los Angeles, Portland, San Francisco, and Otranto, Italy, including exhibitions at Berkeley Art Museum, Oakland Museum, and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Reviews include Art In America, Art Forum, Art Practical, KQED, Huffington Post, and San Francisco Chronicle. Her permanent public artwork River was recently installed at the San Francisco Airport. She is Professor and Chair of Painting at California College of the Arts in San Francisco, and lives and works in Oakland.
