Zach Seeger

Cohoes Falls, 2019
Acrylic on canvas
30 x 44 in

Zach Seeger paints with an astute awareness of color, depicting intimate interiors and watery landscapes that combine elements of representation and abstraction. In his works, scenes of domestic life flow into the external environment and back again. Boundaries are porous and membrane-like; walls and other structural elements are precarious, indeterminate forms. Seegar’s works reveal themselves as a series of contrasts: light and dark; interior and exterior; and privacy and voyeurism, lending them an otherworldly “inside out” quality.

Zach Seeger is a painter, sculptor, and writer working between Brooklyn and upstate New York. He has exhibited at Arts + Leisure and Freight + Volume galleries; Crush Curatorial; stARTup Fair LA; Artspace Tetra in Fukoka, Japan; Life on Mars Gallery; Room 482; and Ortega y Gasset Projects in Brooklyn. He is a regular contributor for the blog Two Coats of Paint, and teaches painting and drawing at the 92nd Street Y in Manhattan. He received his BFA from Binghamton University and MFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design.
