Studio Visit with Calvin Burton

Nancy Cohen is interested in juxtaposition of fragility and strength in the context of human life and the environment. Cohen is known for her multidirectional practice, that incorporates her experimental works with hand-made paper and her sculptural installations, assembled of hand-made glass, cement, reformed found objects, metal and rubber. Nancy Cohen holds an MFA from Columbia University, a BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology. She attended Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture in 1984.

Nancy Cohen’s work has been widely exhibited throughout the United States and is represented in important collections, such as The Montclair Museum, The Newark Public Library, The Weatherspoon Art Gallery, and The Zimmerli Museum. She has completed numerous large-scale, site-specific projects including for Thomas Paine Park in lower Manhattan, The Staten Island Botanical Garden, The Noyes Museum of Art, The Katonah Museum of Art, and Howard University.
